Evonik Acquires Novachem, Boosting Sustainable Cosmetic Actives Portfolio

Evonik has acquired Novachem, an Argentinian sustainable cosmetic actives innovator, reinforcing a path to become the preferred sustainable specialties partner.

WHO: Argentinan Novachem, established in 2007, manufactures biotechnological, natural, and sustainable active ingredients for the cosmetics industry.

Evonik is one of the world leaders in specialty chemicals. The company is active in over 100 countries worldwide, with about 34,000 employees. Evonik goes far beyond chemistry to create innovative, profitable, and sustainable solutions for customers.

WHY: The acquisition of Novachem offers a strong, innovative portfolio of biotechnological, natural, and sustainable cosmetic active ingredients with scientifically proven claims that will boost Evonik’s portfolio of System Solutions. It is the next step in transforming Care Solutions into a leading actives provider, aiming to increase its share from 20 percent today to more than 50 percent by 2030.

  • Evonik has acquired Novachem.
  • Novachem will be integrated into Evonik’s Care Solutions business line within the life sciences division Nutrition & Care. 
  • Recent acquisitions include sustainable botanicals pioneer Botanica (2021), cosmetic delivery company Infinitec Activos (2021), biotech company innoHealth (2020), Wilshire Technologies (2020), and Alkion Biopharma (2016). By leveraging the synergies between these strong and complementary platforms, Evonik is enhancing its entire product portfolio, opening new markets, accelerating growth, and creating significant value.
